Exhibition: Echappée belle by Léopoldine Roux
From October 15 until November 30, 2020, the artist Léopoldine Roux will take over the walls of the InterContinental Bordeaux – Le Grand Hôtel for a tailor-made and surprising exhibition. The Fine Arts graduate artist worked on a selection of historic photos of the Girondine capital and the legendary 5-star establishment to transform them by adding a colorful and modern touch. In addition, the old portraits of personalities intimately linked with the place of the exhibition will complete this new collection, ideal for discovering or rediscovering the history of this monument of the metropolis from a new perspective. For Léopoldine Roux, “this association of old black and white lithographs and engravings enhanced with pop colors, refers to a desire for re-enchantment, individual and collective, sanctuary of a renewed temporality”. Added to these “Living Colors”, what the Brussels-based artist calls “Promenades”. Paintings on canvas inspired by the colors of spring on which the superposition of colors invites contemplation. A meticulous and vertiginous work with the aim of paying homage to Monet’s Water Lilies. This exhibition symbolizes a meeting between history and modernity with art as a privileged witness of the passage of time.
